Graduation Soccer Tots Style

Sunday was Jake's last Soccer Tots for the year. We think he really enjoyed it. Last week, when we drove the the holiday lights at Trade Winds Park, the tour bottomed at into a slew of soccer teams practicing. Jake was proclaiming "soccer tots" all the way home. Jake had so much fun with Logan, Tyler, Sebastian, & Boston that I think we'll give the next level a try.

Here are some pics from the last "practice" and a video too.

Running around with his noodle!

Playing with the parachute.

Receiving his medal from Coach Katie.

Waiting his turn for stamps and stickers.

Jake & Santa

Well, it seemed like it would be a good idea. And for the 5 minutes up until he had to walk over to Santa, Jake seemed fine. He was smiling, waving, and talking up a storm. BUT then the Santa assistant pulled back the cue line and Jake looked at us and said politely, "No." So as you can see from the picture Drew and I weren't really thinking we'd have to sit in Santa's lap, but alas it was the only way for Jake to be near him and I mean, I could not even get him an inch closer!
Merry Christmas!!

Potty Time

We've been talking to Jake about the toilet for awhile now, but he really hasn't expressed any interest in sitting on it. But a few days ago, he asked to sit on the potty. And now, when I ask him him if he needs to use the potty, he says yes. I think this morning he might have used it, but he was sitting on it for so long, maybe I was starting to see yellow! Here's a picture Drew took of him. For the record, he has never asked me for anything to read when sitting on the toilet, but he asked Drew! : -) *He jumped on the couch at Miss Claudette's & busted his lip. This will delay the holiday picture....

Jake on Sunday!

Here is Jake today, Sunday, November 15, 2009... he wore his 'Noles jersey yesterday (a win) and his 'Fins jersey today (another win). This should be a weekly tradition!

Jake with Drew, checking out the new veggie sprouts.

New Garden Plantings

Last weekend, I decided to replant the garden for the fall. I added spinach, chives, onion, broccoli, beets, cucumber and kept the two eggplants (regular & ichiban). This weekend some are already sprouting. I wanted to share because I'm SO excited! I went from all seeds this time, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I see veggies.

Fun-filled Weekend

Cute Story...

Jake has been going to the chiropractor since he was first born. It used to be just light thumps down his spine, but now he actually gets adjustments. So on Saturday he and Drew are in Dr. K's office. Drew goes first. Then it's Jake's turn. He doesn't complain, he lays on the table, turns when he is asked and Dr. K cracks his neck. Drew said he could hear the pops and obiviously so could Jake, because he politely said, "Excuse me". Drew and Dr. K could not stop laughing!

Soccer Tots!!

Jake joined Soccer Tots... today was his first practice and he really enjoyed it. He wasn't the kid crying in the back or the kid that could already kick, but he ran around the entire time with THE biggest smile on his face! Which really what more could a proud dada and mama ask for? His Coach is Katie and when she asked him if had got a lot of candy for Halloween, he replied, "All done!" because of course I had told him he was all done with the candy the night before....hoping he forgets where I put the pumpkin and doesn't ask for it again!! He got a lot of chocolate, which I will really enjoy!

Carrying around his seat spot like a pizza...

Waiting in the "monkey house" while Coach Katie explains the next activity...

Kicking the cones down...

...and then picking and stacking them up.

Tossing the BIG soccer ball around with Daddy.

Getting my stamps and stickers for a job well done!

Here is a clip of Jake chasing around a hula hoop...

Halloween 2009

We hope you had a wonderful Halloween Night! Jake went as the night sky with the moon and stars. I had debated whether or not to buy a costume but when I started looking, it was tough to find anything that really captured what I thought Jake was all about. He loves the moon and he picks it out in any book he reads, so it seemed an obvious choice. I ended up making the shirt he wore, nothing fancy. And he looked at it and began hollering, "Moon, moon!"
A definite success!

He only went to the 6 homes of our lovely neighbors, but he so had the trick or treat thing down. It was super cute.

When we came back in, he had a twizzler, but then tried to move onto other candies. I had to tell him "all done" several times before he realized he wouldn't be enjoying any more that night!!

Of course, we carved a pumpkin as well. No Halloween would be complete without one.
Here it is...

Pumpkin Patch

It's a beautiful day today...so we decided to take advantage of the great weather and go to the Pumpkin Patch. Well, everyone and their kids were there too BUT it was worth it. Jake was in awe of all the other kids and it was tough to get a smile out of him but I finally got this shot of him...

Hope you are enjoying your October as much as we are!! Hugs...

October Happenings...

We have some news...it's not what you're thinking! Pauli's getting married and yesterday we (Jake and I) met Bill. We are thrilled for Pauli and happy to welcome Bill. He was so sweet to Jake and it was a lovely afternoon at City Place.

2!

Jake had a wonderful birthday! We celebrated with Grandpa Mike and our friends and neighbors. It was a bit rainy by the time dinner was being served, so we brought everyone inside for dessert. Jake was super tired but managed to enjoy some of the cake! Here are a few pictures from the party…

Jake under the umbrella with his friend...

Hot dog & chips seemed like a good idea until Jake wouldn't eat anything but the chips!

We moved inside to see if he would eat something else...

Waiting on his cake...licking his lips!!

I'm still hooked on the idea of only baking his birthday cakes. I'll see if this still holds up next year!!

We were all singing, but he was sooo tired. It was well after 8 (his bedtime is 7:30)

Who me? I'm 2?

I let Jake have the candle because I thought he would like to lick the icing off the candle, but he started eating the candle instead!

Right now Jake is talking more...and basically either repeating everything or questioning everything. He loves reading at night before bed. We can ask him to bring us a book about puppies or the moon and he will bring us one on the subject. We think he is brilliant, wink wink but we are just so thrilled he is doing well that any little thing he does is just sooo special to us. We are really lucky!!

End of summer…back to school

As the summer was winding down, Jake’s Cha-cha came for a visit. My mom stayed with us from July 31st thru August 9th. It was a short visit but sweet visit. Cha-cha was fresh from vacation in Kauai and she was really excited to get our fishpond (or as I like to refer to it - fish garden) started. They are very popular on the island and easily replicated but of course I did not try to do any of it on my own…I waited for her to arrive! We started off with four guppies and we’ve only lost 1 so far! Fingers crossed that we get babies…

Jake went to the best birthday party EVER…his cousin Anabella’s. Not only did Jake have fun celebrating, but he also had a wonderful time with ALL his cousins!! I’ve included some pictures from this special occasion where some lucky kid bounced in a bounce house with his outta shape mommy, ate cotton candy, and rode a pony!! There’s a short video at the bottom as well. You can hear his Aunty Anya cheering for him at the end…so sweet!!!

Our garden is really looking beautiful. Everything looks full and hearty, but I was beginning to think I may not see any veggies. But finally some Ichiban eggplants have appeared! The okra is also growing.

I’m back to work and getting the school year off to a great start!! I’m really loving my school and being part of the support staff. Can’t wait to see the kids next week.

We hope everyone that is checking in on us is enjoying August as much as we are!!
