I know it’s been toooo long!!! And I apologize for not updating this wonderful blog sooner, but quite frankly, I’ve been enjoying summer vacation A LOT!!
So a brief wrap up of our summer…
Drew, Jake and I were in Sanibel with the entire Thornberry clan from June 12th to the 22nd. Our schedule was breakfast, beach, lunch, nap, pool, drinks, dinner, and more drinks for 10 days!! Throw in there the occasional Dairy Queen run and you have the makings of a fine way to start summer break. We hated to leave but all good things must come to an end… sniff… sniff…
Jake has been going to school part since our return. We didn’t want him to “forget” the routine. (He had a rough time going back after winter break.)
We have enjoyed going to Deerfield Beach! Jake plays in the sand but loves being in the water more. We also have gone to the West Palm Beach Zoo and Lion Country Safari. Jake was completely taken by the rhinos and zebras at LCS! You drive your car through all the different “regions” and see everything as close to nature as possible. I have to admit seeing a rhino that close to the car was scary, even in the Expedition! I could see the whole scene playing out in my head, “When zoo animals attack…next at 11”…totally freaky, but worth it! I filmed the car ride which did not leave a free hand to take pictures, so when the dvd is finalized, I'll try my hand out at editing and uploading from the camcorder!
Drew went to Michigan to visit family from July 15th to the 20th and came back with a sprained ankle. X-rays showed no break, but he had a hard time getting around for about a week after. He has officially gone back to work… I follow in 2 weeks!
On a sad note our sweetie pie Sasha is no longer with us. She had been ill the last few months and after great consideration Drew took her for her last visit to the vet. I’m tearing up just thinking about how difficult it was but Drew made the right decision. She is missed…
So onto happier subjects…
Jake is GREAT!! He is walking, running, & climbing all over the place. Everyday he does something even cuter than the day before or says something new that make Drew and I smile. We love this age…but it has its challenges! He really likes to wait for the “no” and then proceed to continue anyway. Jake seems to “test” me more than Drew, however, I have been taking things in stride. I know it’s just a phase. He is such a “smilely”, happy, “lovey” child. He laughs, gives kisses, dances and has fun with everything he does. He reads his books and likes all the toys that play music best. He sings or hums around the house all day long. The current song of choice is the ABC song. It’s hard to imagine that Jake Kenji will be TWO!?! Where has the time gone? I’ve started a special website for the occasion, because after all 2 is a BIG DEAL! You can check it out here… http://jakeis2.shutterfly.com/ (password is thornberry)
Thanks for dropping by and reading the update!!
